What do they do?

The acrylic window covers provide a layer of additional "insulation" for your windows. It turns single pane windows into double glazed windows or double glazed windows into triple glazed ones. Additionally, our acrylic window covers provide an airtight seal against the existing window frame, thereby eliminating air infiltration. Measured reductions in sound and heat transfer are often in the order of 70% or more with properly installed Castle Window Covers.

If acrylic is so good, why aren't my windows made of it already?

Acrylic is much stronger than glass, and it is also a much better insulator. Acrylic is also available with tinting or UV blocking characteristics for museums and medical applications. The reason it is not in widespread use as a glazing material has to do with its heat expansion properties. Acrylic will expand and contract when heated or cooled, enough that it cannot be permanently affixed in a solid frame.

What about soundproofing?

The innovative molding design serves to block sound as well as heat transfer. Sound deadening on the order of 70% is typically measured in noisy areas.

How much do they cost?

While the average cost of installing Castle Window Covers is typically half the cost of replacing your windows, the prices per window may vary depending upon different sizes and/or custom shapes. Contact us for a free quote, and feel free to match it up against replacement windows!

Can I remove them and open my windows on a nice day?

You can easily snap Castle Window Covers in and out as you wish. They are lightweight and easy to use. For windows that are open and closed on a regular basis, we can customize a split window system where one half of the acrylic panel (over the portion of the window that opens) can be stored directly on top of the other half of the window cover, then be easily replaced after the window is again closed.
