Drafts
All the windows are shut, but there’s still an annoying draft!
What do I do? A lot of times, what causes a draft isn’t necessarily
air coming in through the cracks around the window, although it
may be that, too. The draft is often caused by the constant motion
of the air in your home when warm air mixes with cold air. The warm
air goes up while the cold air goes down, causing a constant motion
of the air, and therefore a draft. This happens all year, either
your heater is on battling the cold, or your air conditioner is
on to battle the heat. But Castle Window Covers keep the temperature
in your home virtually the same all year long, so those annoying
drafts go away!
The magnetic seal is the secret to eliminating drafts.
Any window that can open has a crack space. This crack space allows
a window to move without too much resistance. The crack space also
allows air to seep into or out of your house. If you add up the
crack space around each window, it can be equal in area to the size
of a baseball! This can be responsible for up to 2/3 of the energy
loss through your window.
Drafts also occur from the circular motion of warm air hitting
a cold window and recirculating. The air cools, falls, and is forced
out to the middle of the room, where it warms, rises and makes its
way to the cold window again.Castle Window Covers overcome this
problem by using the optical grade acrylic glazing and the magnetic
window seals. The magnetic seal minimizes the air infiltration making
it as low as possible in a fully functional window.
